An asteroid headed for earth

Earlier on 2^nd june 2018 on a Saturday morning a small asteroid was spotted out by NASA headed towards planet earth, this cosmic material named asteroid 2018 LA was estimated to be approximately 6 feet across, which was first spotted by astrologists in Catalina sky survey in Arizona. I quote “the discovery of asteroid 2018 LA is only the third time that an asteroid has been discovered to be on an impact trajectory” said NASA’s manager of Center for Near-earth Object Studied (CNEOS) Mr. Paul Chodas he also goes further saying that, and I quote “ it is also only the second time that the impact location was predicted well ahead of the event”

Fortunately all the asteroids burned up in the atmosphere and did not cause any catastrophic damage. CNEOS astrologists calculated the point of impact and was found out that it could enter somewhere over a ridge in the continent of Africa across the Indian Ocean to Papai New Guinea

Observers say that the final moments of the asteroid were seen flying across South Africa looking like a fire ball impacting the ground. NASA earlier made a report that it had disintegrated several miles over the sky. Lindley Johnson a planetary defense officer from NASA further clarified that the object they were expecting a  bigger object however the real event allowed them to exercise their capabilities and give them confidence on impact prediction calculations of larger celestial bodies like the one that hit Russia on 2013 but was only detected when it hit the atmosphere hence creating a very deadly shock wave created a very high pitch that blew window panes in Chelyabinsk causing minor injuries, meaning that even smaller asteroids are of equal damage and should not be overlooked
