Facebook to soon start charging monthly fees for groups membership

Facebook inc. made a very interesting announcement late this month saying that they will let administrator soon start charging $4.99 to $29.99 a month for exclusive membership on certain groups. Currently they are testing this new feature with parenting, cooking and home cleaning groups.

As it stands for now, free groups will still remain intact but soon they will have the option to launch premium sub-groups that one has to subscribe to maintain his or her membership.

Like in the past Facebook groups may have always been free, charging for membership might heighten the sense of exclusivity hence making a group very special to be in, on the other hand, this feature may also drive more people away.

This feature is to encourage the group admins, who have put a lot of energy and dedication to grow their communities and also act as a source of income for them also this gives them a chance to create more enriching context for the group as well like posts, meet ups and videos.
