Google workers demonstrate their displeasure by a "walkout"

More than 20,000 Google employees and contractors from Australia, US, Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, Philippines, UK, Singapore, Sweden and Switzerland participated in the global walk out protest to complain about the company handling of sexual harassment allegations that some of the employees receive from top executives this info was provided by their organizers. Meaning that more than 20% of the workers worldwide took part in this event, since the company has 94,372 full time and contract employees.

This protest was sparked by an investigation from The New York Times that revealed how Android co-founder Andy was paid $90 million after he quitted having being accused of sexually harassment. A Google employee said to the New York Times that they are the lime light in the industry and others follow so they have to lead the way and show the path.

The organizers say that Google CEO Sundar Pichai has agreed to meet with them to agree and review a plan that addresses five key demands which include; an end to force arbitration in case of harassment and discrimination; commitment to “end pay and opportunity inequity”, publicly disclosed and transparent sexual harassment report, clear process for reporting this abuse and commitment to elevate the Chief Diversity Officer to answer directly to the CEO and make recommendations directly to the board of directors.
And also they requested a representative of the workers on board meetings.
