
Facebook has officially announced the launch of Facebook dating app four months after they made it public that they would add the feature the feature is already undergoing beta testing in Colombia, this feature however competes closely with another dating app called Hinge designed in a way to resemble the famous dating app called Tinder where they encourage the users to start a conversation with someone based on their personality posted on their timeline Facebook’s dating app is however distinct from the others since they have added the groups and events feature hence encouraging people to meet in public.
You can find this feature in the Facebook
app hence it is in built but the desktop version is not rolled out yet.
To access
in in your phone, you will tap on the menu icon at the right side of your phone
available to users only 18 and above worldwide to sign up you will be prompted
to create a new dating profile with less personal information, you first name
and age are the only information carried over from Facebook then you will be
asked to write a short description of yourself and whom you are seeking, you
will also be required to answer some questions and add up to 9 photos in your
account.
The app will allow you to browser for partners
within a 100 kilometers radius and won’t be able to change your location so as
to look for a partner in other areas if you travel to another place the app
will prompt you to confirm your location once more. Facebook will exclude all
of your friends or the ones you have blocked from being your potential partner
but will bring you people you have not met at all and then it takes into
account your shared likes and similarities between your accounts. Facebook dating
allows you to start a chat with anybody and it will open a chatting thread restricted
only to text and emoji but no photos or videos.
The company says that one of its major
goals is to promote meaningful conversation and relationships and not random
hookups also you can expand you dating pool using Facebook groups and events.
Facebook alone has 2.2 billion users
bringing up the question whether the feature will be popular among the youth
who take a major part in the social media industry.
